Auditions 2013

Once you arrive at the auditions 2013 venue, keep to yourself. You are not there to make friends. You can interact with the other hopefuls once you have had your turn. The most important thing when you get there though is to get into your zone. You can only do this by keeping to yourself and focusing on the role you are about to play.

It is advisable to get into your character from the moment you wake up that morning. This will ensure that by the time you get to have your audition you will be full immersed in your role. This does not mean that if you are playing a psychopath that you should kill everything in sight! It simply means that you should embody the overall mood and demeanour of your character. Once you are done with your audition, you can let your actual personality shine through. The contrast will impress the casting directors and may just give you an edge against the competition.

Some television auditions may require you to bring your own monologue. Make sure you enquire how long the piece should be. They usually should last from two minutes to five minutes. Keep this in mind when you are choosing the piece you will perform so that you do not run out of time and have to be cut off by the casting directors. Also, when selecting the monologue that you will perform, pick something that is very familiar to you. Your best option would be to choose a scene from your favourite movie. This will be quite familiar to you thus reducing the chances of you making a mistake. You do not want to risk the chance of messing up your audition with a monologue you are unfamiliar with.

Never rush through your 2013 auditions! This is your big chance and you should make the most of it. Speak your lines clearly and distinctly. Do not shout, but ensure that you project your voice so that you are audible. Make use of hand gestures, facial expressions and the stage that you are performing on. Remember that this is not theatre though, so do not over act.
